Designing a piece of bespoke jewellery is a special time in your life as well as an investment, whether that is an engagement ring, wedding ring or remodelling old jewellery. Therefore, it is important to work with a jeweller you trust – but how do you know you have found ‘the one?’
When looking for a bespoke jeweller there are a few things you can do to find a reputable company to work with and that is things like a google search for jewellers near you or asking friends and family who they would recommend.
Below are some tips to follow when you have found a couple of people you may like to work with to see if they are the right fit!
Look at Their Previous Bespoke Jewellery
Have a look at the previous pieces of jewellery they have made. You can probably find these pieces on their website but also don’t be afraid to contact them and ask if they could send you some images that would be suited to you.
Check out Their Social Media
Social media such as Instagram, Pinterest or Facebook is a great way to check a jewellery designer’s past pieces but to also see how they communicate. Do they seem approachable? Can they give you the correct information on the gemstones? Do they have the design style that fits your requirements?
If they have video available, you can generally get a feel of what a person is like so have a look at their YouTube channel as well.
Have they got Reviews?
Google and Facebook reviews are another great source of information when it comes to choosing the right jewellery designer for you. Do they deliver work on time? How is their customer service? Are their previous customers generally happy?
Meet Them if You Can
It isn’t necessarily possible to ‘window shop’ and head down to your local high street so don’t be afraid to have a phone call or a video call with the bespoke jeweller you have found and ask them questions! When you meet someone, whether that is virtually or face-to-face you can get a good idea whether you trust or like the person or not.
You won’t like everybody and that’s okay because when you have a good relationship with the person you’re working with you generally get a better product at the end of it as the communication, among other things, is better on both parts.
