A real and romantic story of a beautiful, trilogy engagement ring.

In November last year I was approached by a gentleman who was ready to make his girlfriend his fiancee and needed the perfect engagement ring. I believe a few months prior the couple had looked in a few jewellery stores and tried on rings, so he had an idea of what his girlfriend preferred.

In fact, he had a very clear idea of what she wanted, and I knew this had to be perfect. Specifically, they were clear on a trilogy engagement ring with a Round Brilliant Cut Diamond and a Pear Cut Diamond either side set in Platinum – only the best!

One more thing, can we have it done before Christmas! Fortunately, we had just about enough time.

When my client told me how he was going to propose I was so excited for him (and his girlfriend), it sounded truly magical. She thought he was taking her to Norway for New Years Eve but he was really whisking her off to New York. What’s amazing is that he had considered what she didn’t like as well, he knew she wouldn’t want to be proposed too in Times Square in front of the masses, it needed to be personal and private.

So, after hearing what my client needed and getting the design perfect, I sourced some Diamonds for him to view. I sourced a selection for him to choose from with various clarity, carat sizes and qualities. We discussed the pros and cons of each diamond and he made a well-informed decision on the final three.

Time to make the ring! I love this part, turning the design into a reality and at the end, oh-so-carefully setting the diamonds. This is difficult especially with pear cut diamonds, because you can’t get too much pressure on them at the point in case they fracture, a very expensive problem to solve!

I managed to get the ring finished the week before Christmas. I was so happy when he came to collect it, I wished I could be a fly on the wall when he proposed!

I do know that the proposal went smoothly, and they are now very happily engaged to be married. I have since met his fiancee and the ring looks stunning on her finger.

What I loved most about this bespoke design was the thought that my client had clearly put into this, he even brought his and her mums to a design consultation to get them involved and get their opinions (and approval!).

An extremely happy story with a beautiful bespoke engagement ring that will lead to a happily ever after.
