Love is a beautiful thing and as a jewellery designer I see a lot of love. One of my favourite elements of the job is making wedding rings! A small ring of metal that symbolises so much.
Last year I had the pleasure of making wedding rings for one of the most amazing couples.
This was a second marriage, later on in life and you can just see how happy to couple were! I had previously done bespoke design of a Blue John ring for the bride and when she came in with her fiancé to talk about wedding rings I was thrilled! She had a beautiful antique ‘Daisy’ Diamond cluster engagement ring and wanted a wedding band to fit around it. So, we came up with a beautiful 18ct wishbone design which would fit perfectly around the Diamonds.
Originally the groom didn’t want a wedding band and was adamant about it. Until he went to another wedding and felt the emotion in watching someone else putting on a wedding ring and changed his mind!
So, we designed him one as well! Matching his future wife’s in 18ct Yellow Gold, we created him a classic court wedding band. Extremely comfortable and timeless design.
It was a small wedding, held at the beautiful Haddon Hall near Bakewell with only witnesses as guests.
Haddon Hall is a medieval manor house set in the glorious Peak District. Some parts of the house dating back to the 12th century, it was restored in the 1920’s by the Duke and Duchess of Rutland. In my opinion, one of the most glorious parts of the house are the Elizabethan terraced gardens, the roses are simply stunning. This place is a true beauty and a treasure of a wedding destination. This wedding was no extravagance, just the two of them, tying their love together for the rest of their lives. Doesn’t that sound so perfect? Followed by Afternoon Tea and Champagne, I know they had an amazing day.
I caught up with them a month or so after and was so delighted to see the beautiful wedding photos and even some of the wedding rings!
This is why I love creating wedding rings (and engagement rings!) because they are such a huge part in someone’s life, they are truly the most precious piece of jewellery most people will ever own. And its not just down to monetary value, its sentimental value.
